The Feast of Marija Bambina is celebrated in Senglea every September. Beyond the dazzling fireworks and lively band marches, Senglea is especially renowned for its illuminated harbourfront. Houses and waterfront buildings are festooned with lanterns and lights, creating a magical glow unique to this celebration. The highlight is the procession of the much-loved statue of Marija Bambina, carried with great devotion through the streets and down to the harbour. Here, the saint is saluted with fireworks over the water.
