Kirkop

St Leonard, patron saint of Kirkop, is honoured in the church’s titular painting St Leonard Invoked by the Imprisoned, completed in 1751 by Maltese Baroque artist Rocco Buhagiar. The artwork portrays the saint in his Benedictine habit, surrounded by freed captives kneeling in gratitude. Leonard points heavenward, symbolising his role in guiding them to offer thanks to God.
