The Feast
Luqa
Feast of St Andrew
Luqa celebrates the feast of St Andrew the Apostle on the first Sunday of July, with the liturgical feast taking place on 30 November. The summer festa transforms the village into a lively celebration of faith and community, with band marches, fireworks, and street decorations filling the narrow streets around the parish square. One of the most distinctive traditions is “Il-Marċ tal-Anġlu”, where festa enthusiasts carry a statue of an angel up a tall platform, pushing it upward before turning it dramatically back toward the cheering crowd. This theatrical moment has become a beloved highlight of the Luqa festa.
