Marsaskala

Marsaskala only became a parish in 1949, making St Anne’s Church a relatively modern addition to Malta’s rich ecclesiastical heritage. Built in 1953 to the design of architect Joseph F. Micallef, the church has a light and airy feel, contrasting with the ornate Baroque style of many of the island’s older churches. Its bell tower, added in 1991, completes the simple yet striking structure. Dedicated to St Anne, the parish celebrates her feast at the end of July, bringing the seaside town together in a lively blend of religious tradition and summer festivity.
