Attard

Attard’s patron saint, the Assumption of Our Lady, is celebrated with deep devotion every August 15th. The parish church houses a striking 1681 titular painting by Maltese artist Pasquale Buhagiar, depicting the Virgin Mary carried by angels to Christ, who awaits her in heaven alongside God the Father, ready to crown her. Adding to this spiritual heritage is a delicate china titular statue, commissioned in 1874 by Parish priest Dun Gwann Ebejer from Parisian ceramist Raffael Ignaz. This statue is carried through Attard’s streets during the feast, uniting the community in reverence and celebration of their cherished patroness.
