Bormla

Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception

At the heart of Bormla stands the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, built in the 17th century and still one of the town’s most treasured landmarks. Its façade is strikingly illuminated during feast days, while the interior is richly draped in red damask, heightening the splendour of its artwork and sacred relics. The dome features paintings by Giuseppe Calì, one of Malta’s most renowned artists, and the church also houses the extraordinary silver-clad statue of the Virgin Mary, crafted by Abram Gatt. For centuries, this church has been central to Bormla’s spiritual life, drawing worshippers and visitors alike to admire its artistry and devotion.
