Floriana

Crafted in 1885 by the sculptor Vincenzo Dimech and later refined by his son, the titular statue of St Publius, patron saint of Floriana depicts St Publius robed as Malta’s first bishop, holding a palm of martyrdom. According to tradition, Publius welcomed St Paul after his shipwreck in 60 AD and converted to Christianity, making him a central figure in Malta’s faith.
