The Feast

Floriana

Feast of St Publius

Floriana comes alive each April with the feast of St Publius, the town’s patron saint and one of Malta’s most significant religious figures. According to tradition, Publius welcomed St Paul after his shipwreck in 60 AD and later converted to Christianity, becoming Malta’s first bishop. The festa lasts several days, with the main highlight being the Sunday procession, when the statue of St Publius is carried through streets lit by colourful decorations and accompanied by band marches and fireworks.
