Marsa

At the centre of the town stands the Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, the spiritual heart of Marsa since the early 20th century. Construction began on 20 October 1909, funded entirely by benefactors Lorenzo Balbi and his wife Carmela Ozzini of Valletta. Designed by architect Giovanni Domenico Debono and built by master mason Michele Mifsud, the church was completed in just under three years and officially opened in 1913, when Marsa was also established as its own parish. The twin-spired church dominates the main square and has been entrusted to the care of the Capuchin Friars. Its elegant architecture and central location make it a focal point of community life and religious celebrations in the locality.
