Mqabba

Mqabba celebrates its principal feast in honour of the Assumption of Our Lady on 15 August, one of the most important feast days across Malta. For several days the village bursts into life with colourful decorations, band marches, religious celebrations, and spectacular fireworks displays. Mqabba is particularly famous for its world-renowned fireworks factories, which have earned international acclaim, including victories at the Malta International Fireworks Festival and the Caput Lucis World Fireworks Championships in Italy. Another popular celebration takes place in June during the feast of Our Lady of the Lilies (Madonna tal-Gilju), adding further festivity to the village calendar and drawing fireworks enthusiasts from across the island.
