Patron Saint

Siggiewi

St. Nicholas of Bari

St. Nicholas of Bari, known for his generosity and protection of the poor, is celebrated as Siġġiewi’s patron saint. The village's feast, held on the last Sunday of June, sees a wooden statue of the saint carried in procession, sculpted by Pietro Felici in 1736.

Four years earlier, Felici also crafted the stone statue of St. Nicholas that stands proudly in the Siġġiewi piazza, its pedestal inscribed with a Latin prayer, asking St. Nicholas to bless the fields tended by the hardworking people of Siġġiewi.
