The Feast

Siggiewi

Feast of St Nicholas

While the liturgical feast of St. Nicholas falls on December 6th, Siġġiewi’s main feast celebrations take place during the last weekend of June, squarely amid Malta’s summer festa season. The beautifully illuminated church, lively marching bands, dazzling firework displays, and festive revelry fill the village with energy. December’s celebrations tend to be more intimate, retaining a reverent charm with a delightful children’s procession.

A cherished tradition unique to Siġġiewi is the preparation of Il-Ħobż ta’ San Nikola, a small, flower-shaped bread baked and blessed on the eve of the June feast. Believed to protect homes from evil, these breads carry a legacy of faith and folklore passed down through generations.
