The Feast

Birgu

Feast of St Lawrence

The Feast of St Lawrence is celebrated each year on 10th August. It is particularly notable because it coincides with the saint’s universal feast day, unlike many Maltese parishes which move their festa to summer weekends. The day is marked by solemn masses, a colourful procession with the statue of St

Lawrence, and vibrant celebrations along the harbourfront. What sets this feast apart from most Maltese feasts are the traditional regatta rowing races that take place on the feast day in the Grand Harbour, a spectacle that reflects Birgu’s deep maritime heritage.
