Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady

Each August, Għaxaq bursts into life with the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady, which is celebrates with several other Maltese parishes. The week-long festa fills the village with band marches, fireworks, light displays, and processions, culminating in the carrying of the titular statue of St Mary through the streets. Locals decorate their homes and balconies, while traditional food stalls and live music create a joyful atmosphere. Though celebrated across Malta, Għaxaq’s feast is renowned for its spectacular pyrotechnics and strong community spirit, making it a highlight of the island’s festive calendar.
