Hamrun

The titular statue of the Immaculate Conception, commissioned in 1676 and attributed to an unknown Maltese artist, is one of Ħamrun’s most treasured devotional works. Carved in stone and delicately painted, it depicts the Virgin Mary robed in white and blue, crowned with twelve stars and standing upon silver-gilt clouds and a crescent moon, an image drawn from Revelation 12:5. Set within an ornate Baroque stone niche crowned by the initials MV (Maria Vergine), the statue radiates grace and serenity.
