Hamrun

Built in the 1880s, the Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception is a graceful landmark in the heart of Ħamrun, combining spiritual devotion with classical architectural beauty. Externally, it features a small concrete dome, a single bell tower, and a balanced façade in classical style. Its layout includes a single altar before a sanctuary of three grand niches and two sacristies at the rear. Inside, the sanctuary’s highlight is a mosaic of the Immaculate Conception, inspired by Murillo’s famous 17th-century painting and crafted by T. Sarti of Pietrasanta in 1983. The church also houses a 1903 titular statue by R. Zanzio & Co. of Rome, as well as statues of Saint Joseph and Our Lady of Sorrows, the

latter sculpted by Wistin Camilleri.
