Fgura

The Cross Monument

Standing proudly on Hompesch Street, The Cross Monument was inaugurated in 1990 to mark Fgura’s 25th anniversary as a parish. Designed by sculptor Ġanni Bonnici, it was built on the site of a former church dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, demolished in the 1950s. Resting on four symbolic columns — three for neighbouring towns (Paola, Tarxien, and Żabbar) and one for Fgura itself — the monument honours the parish’s foundation and enduring sense of unity.
