Fgura

The titular statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Fgura’s parish church is a beautifully carved wooden figure created in 1960 by the Perathoner workshop of Val Gardena, Bolzano. It replaced an earlier statue from 1947 by Maltese sculptor Wistin Camilleri. Depicting the Virgin Mary holding the Infant Jesus and presenting the Brown Scapular, the statue symbolises Mary’s protection and intercession, core themes of Carmelite devotion.
