Wignacourt Aqueduct
One of the most important historic landmarks in Santa Venera is the Wignacourt Aqueduct, built between 1611 and 1615 during the rule of Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt. The aqueduct carried fresh water from springs in Rabat and Dingli all the way to Valletta, transforming daily life in the capital. Passing through Santa Venera, its distinctive stone arches remain a visible reminder of the engineering ingenuity of the Knights of St John and Malta’s early infrastructure.
